GAU, or Gain Augmentation Unit, is a dynamic effects processor with an integrated envelope follower in a single module.

It accepts both Eurorack and line-level signals but is primarily designed for electroacoustic inputs, such as a spring shaker or any source using a piezo or microphone—common tools in the noise genre.

While shaping your acoustic sound with its 3-band EQ, harmonic exciter, and compressor, you can simultaneously modulate other modules in the Harsh Noise System by converting the audio signal into control voltages via the envelope follower.
